SGEndorses: Bailey's Maryland Avenue

About two years ago, one of the best dressed women I know decided to share her style with the rest of us and opened Bailey's Maryland Avenue in Annapolis, Maryland.

Pamela C. Watson of Charlotte, North Carolina, came to Washington, DC to pursue a degree in international affairs. Post graduation she did a brief stint lobbying for soy beans, before she ditched the 9-to-5 to work for a start up boutique/accessories manufacturer then as store manager for a venerable Palm Beach brand.

After a summer spent in Annapolis as a boat intern, she fell in love with the "Sailing Capital of the World's" east coast sensibility and relaxed water front community deciding to set up shop in historic downtown a block from the capitol building.

Bailey's is aggressively chic attire at its best. Clothing and accessories that are well-made, classically inspired and ideal both in Town and in the Country.

Pamela carries a mix of classics and fresh new labels including: J. McLaughlin, Calypso, Skirtin' Around, Elizabeth McKay, Boy Meets Girl, Taylor, Lia Kes, Prairie New York, KEP Designs, Meg Carter Designs, Just Madras, Tolani, Fornash Designs, James Jeans, Plenty Frock by Tracy Reece, Julie Haus, CK Bradley & Liquid.

Because SOUTHERN GENT has both a loyal male and female readership, Pamela has graciously offered y'all 10% off your purchase. Just enter "So Gent" under "special instructions" on her website.

  1. I just bought an AMAZING dress by Calypso there. It travels well and can be handwashed. Thanks for posting SoGent!

  2. What I love most about the store is I can wear most of it to work with a cardigan and flats and then shed the cardi and opt for heels for a night out boozing. It's the perfect combo of professional and chic.

  3. I will definitely have to check this place out!

I love your blog, love anyone that has ever lobbied for agriculture (my husband was the 'cattle' guy for years) and love Annapolis - so I'll pay her a visit in person and tell her I read about her on 'southern gent.'

  4. Soybeans and Cattle...I used to beg state legislatures to pay for expensive drugs...everybody needs an advocate.

Lovely entrepreneur...I wish her the best .... better end retail is a tough biz even in the best of times!

  5. Boozie: Just as Pamela would have hoped for - versatility in quality pieces.

Kathie: Enjoy your day. Pamela is a huge fan of 'Real Housewives' so you'll have plenty to talk about in addition to agriculture and annapolis.

ADG: LFG may be a bit petite/young for the clothes at Bailey's, but if you'd like to lavish a special lady friend head out to 62 Maryland Avenue.
