Best. Shirt. Ever.

OCBD...4 Pastel Colors, Count 'em: Yellow, Mint Green, Oxford Blue, Violet... From RL... all in1 shirt

Mr. Bradley Charlesworth of Montgomery, AL is the proud owner of this preppy perfection and kindly shared the image above for this post (I added the well deserved frame). He told me years ago, if his memory served correctly, the coveted garment was bought down in Alabama at Belk's Department store.

I have scoured eBay, thrift stores, online sales and POLO.com and have come up with 'nuttin. The hunt for one in size 'M' or '15 1/2 - 33' continues...
UPDATE: Shortly after starting a draft of this post, AEV found the shirt on eBay for me - I watched, I bid & I won! Best. Shirt. Ever. Is on its way.

  1. Depending on your location - try Stein Mart, Dillards, Macy's. I'm in FL and I know I've seen one of these recently here. Perhaps DownEast / Orvis?

  2. Try a Ralph Lauren Outlet, in Hagerstown, Leesburg or Queenstown (across the Bay). are all good places outside DC.

  6. Great shirt, but the holy grail is the Brooks Brothers "Fun" Shirt, as seen on Heavy Tweed Jacket's blog. I recently scored one from ebay after months of searching...they're really hard to find but worth it.

  12. Own it!

Mine doesn't have the pocket, but as luck would have it, the day before Best. Shirt. Ever. was found on eBay, I bought BB "Fun Shirt" at the rather affordable Buy Now price. I look at the Polo as Spring shirt for its pastels and the Brooks shirt as the fall shirt given it's primary, back-to-school colors.

  13. I read your blog fairly often and decided yesterday to read through some archived posts, discovered this one, which made me smile. My job recently transferred me to Austin, TX from Atlanta, but I am originally from Nashville, TN. Now, as much as I love Austin, its a different world out here: definitely not the part of the country where I grew up with preppy people sporting their honey-soaked accents everywhere one turns.

I received a package today from my cousin, whom I ask to send me hand-me-downs when he is done with them, and he obliges- I find I get some pretty cool stuff that way. The "Best. Shirt. Ever." was in today's package. I chuckled to myself as I discovered it, and thought of this post. Thought that I would share the coincidence.

  14. PHM: First, thanks for stopping by and reading through the archives. Second, awesome coincidence. BSE gets lots of wearing in the summer months as it makes most people smile when i wear it. And that alone is worth it.
    Keep in touch.
