Continuing The Heritage

Took Virginia Hunter Education with my buddy Brine (Brian) over a weekend in September. Besides actually learning things like:
  • "Shoot/Don't Shoot"
  • TAB:Treat every gun as if it were loaded, Always point your gun in a safe direction, Be sure of your target and beyond
  • Don't fall out of a tree stand
We left with endless fodder for discussion, a great handbook, certificate (wall and wallet-sized) and the patch on the far left.
I'm thinking about ironing it on to my Bean Hunting Tote. What do y'all think?

  1. What do I think of your photoshop skills or your tote? All kidding aside, I think it would look cool.

  2. I literally laughed out loud when I read the Shoot Don't Shoot title... recalling that BRUTAL 1950's filmstrip... "here comes Daryl with his Lab-ah-rah-dore".

    DO IT.

  3. No - don't put the hunters education patch on anything unless you're under age 13 or so. And, really, don't put it on a tote - that will just reinforce the lameness; if you must put it on a bag, put it on a duffle bag.

The patches are for young hunters to sew on their first huting vest/jacket - not for grown men.

Don't do it. You'll look like a tenderfoot.

  4. I think you should bring back patches. Really they are good clean fun and a great way of showing people how cool you are without verbally bragging about your awesomeness. Let the patches speak for themselves!

  6. All I got was a wallet size card that's tucked behind my library card. I want some cool patches...And, darn right you should iron those things on your Bean tote! XXOO

  7. Hopefully the 4s had it and the patch is pasted. I am a Virginian, born and bred, who is currently in self-exile in Maine (working for the LLB boot people) who remembers taking that VA Hunter Safety Course, which is my county was mandatory in seventh grade. I still have the patch and am now inclined to applique it somewhere cool, thanks to your post!
