You have arrived...

A familiar phrase for anyone who has used Hertz's Never Lost, the Saints must know they have arrived when greeted by thousands of fans upon their return to New Orleans.

No barricades, no ropes, just excited and happy fans who from years of practice waiting for parades know how to celebrate together.

Now, marching on to a big game Saturday night (NFL Network 8:20 EST) against Dallas in the Dome.

Finish.

SGGiftGuide: Holiday 2009 III

  • L.L.Bean Hunter's Tote Bag: Zip top and gear loop - cause at the end of the day it's really about how much you've 'bagged.'
  • Ducks Unlimited Membership: Whether helping conserve America's wetlands or learning more about waterfowl, the monthly magazine and fleece vest is the gift that gives year round.
  • Orvis Carry-It-All Rod and Real Case: Top shelf bag to get all your gear to Turks and Caicos or down to the Gulf Coast in one sharp lookin' piece.
  • Guy Harvey T-Shirt: Complete with Frocket (Front Pocket). A Southern Classic.
  • Le Chameau's: Worn by Kings & Queens and famous for their price tag, but when you are hiking through brush, ankle high puddles and freezing your toes off, I'm told you won't be sure how you could have ever lived w/o them.
  • Mad Bomber: From the flannel exterior to the fur interior this hat keeps you warm when walking the lab in the morning and around the bonfires at night.
  • Zippo Hand Warmer: Received this last year monogrammed with "DAM" and use it regularly - great gift that fits in your pocket and the stockings you'll hang by the chimney with care.

Week's Lagniappe

la-gnaippe [lan-yap, lan-yap] - noun: something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure; bonus

SGSportsFan: This is a clip from Drew Bree's on The Jay Leno Show. While Jay traditionally does 10 at 10 he did 9 at 9 for December 9 and that Drew was on at 9:00 central time. I also believe it is because Drew's number is 9. Listen to the interview, Brees comes across just as awesome as you'd expect him to be.

SGCelebrates: And last but not least,

Happy Hanukkah Y'all!

Kick the Tires...

'cause I'm only days away from lightin' the fires!

Yup, I did it. I broke down and bought a yule log DVD for the flat screen mounted in my condo which I plan to enjoy as long as we have all this rain and cold.

Not sure if it's the big black rectangle mounted on the wall that I don't want to see while entertaining this holiday season or because I'm fascinated by the kitschy-ness, but this DVD being made especially for plasmas sold me.

I'll share a picture of two with my feet up by the "fire" once it arrives if y'all don't make fun of me too much.

SGGiftGuide: Holiday 2009 II

While the Saints pulled through Sunday to make it 12-0, it was the die-hard Redskins fans who showed us how to tailgate NFL-style and with a SG slant, inspired today's post.

  • Folding Picnic Table: 1-table, 4-chairs and all in the size of a suitcase. Extra points for teak top and seats.
  • Coleman Steel Cooler: As American as football itself, take it back old school with this red and white classic.
  • Sticky Fingers 5 Bottle Sauce Pack: As delicious as their pulled pork potato skins.
  • Omaha Steaks: Send him exactly what he wants to eat- quality steaks and burgers.
  • Margaritaville Tailgating Grill: Jimmy Buffet takes the grill from the beach to the ball game and can be easily attached to the trailer hitch on your truck.
  • Texas Irons Brand Set: Whether it's with "Who Dat!" or your monogram, let them know who prepared that steak to perfection

Up for Auction...

Purchased in December 2007, my Barbour Classic Beaufort is, unfortunately, a size too small when wearing it with either the quilted or warm pile liner so I am putting it up for sale on eBay HERE and wanted to let y'all know.

Description from Orvis: "Medium Weight for All ‘Round Use. This all–purpose waxed–cotton jacket for all–season wear–has a broken–in, shine–free Sylkoil finish for the ultimate in classic weather resistance. It features two front bellows pockets with snap storm flaps and two moleskin–lined handwarmer pockets. There is also a concealed zip–up wallet pocket and a full–width rear game and cartridge pocket with side zips. It is lined full length with cotton tartan. The corduroy collar is studded for an optional hood. Snap–closed throat flap and storm–fly front provide additional protection. Raglan sleeves with underarm ventilation, adjustable storm cuffs, and brass–finish two–way metal zipper... Specially treated 100% cotton shell. Cold sponge, no soap. England."

Worn for only a few months a year here in DC, it is in excellent condition with little wear and I rewaxed it with Barbour Thornproof Dressing this past August.

Running true to your suit jacket size, if you are a 38 it can be comfortably worn with a Barbour zip-in warm pile liner or in a slimmer more modern way if you choose.

Fine Print & Details:
Olive C38 Barbour Beaufort including trademark "Barbour" Lapel Pin
Lining: Barbour Tartan Plaid
Chest (Armpit to Armpit): 22"
Sleeve (Shoulder to Cuff): 22"
Length (Under neck to hem): 31"

There are both "bid" and "buy now" options or I would be happy to sell it directly to a Southern Gent reader for a reasonable offer. Just contact me directly via the email in my profile.

Together With...

the New Orleans Saintsations,
All I have to say is:

The Saints 38-17 win over the Patriots is a monumental moment for the Team and the City of New Orleans proving the franchise's 11-0 season is a force to be reckoned with as they go 'marching' towards 12 - 0 this weekend against the Redskins on Sunday, December 6 where I'll be cheering on as part of the 'Who Dat Nation' in black and gold.
