I Luv U

We are two weeks and a few days away from Valentine's Day and I have put back, oh, I think three bags of small conversation hearts. They are addictive, delicious and sugary sweet. Eating them brings back distinct memories this time on year as it usually falls around Mardi Gras and is the precursor to satiating my sweet tooth with Easter candy.

I know they are also extremely polorizing. Do you love or loath Brach's Conversation Hearts?

  3. These are pretty much the opposite of good. What's with the ones labeled, "Angel" and "I Hope" - let me guess, made in china?

  7. Actually - I "WAS" a big fan of the Conversation Hearts from Necco. However, Necco decided to overhaul their hearts this year & they are awful. Looks like I am not the only one: http://www.typetive.com/candyblog/item/sweethearts_2010/

  8. I like the idea of them and like you, have fond memories of them. But, sadly, I always think they taste like pepto bismal!

  9. swirvin - hollar. I couldn't find the brach's at CVS and gave in to the neccos. They are disgusting and the whole bag went into the trash.

    AD: Tear. what's your memories?

  10. I think conversation hearts perfectly capture the Valentines Day holiday. They are cheap, over processed and unfilling. Next holiday please!

  11. 7th grade Valentines party at a (sort of) girlfriends house - 60s, cellar remodeled in knotty pine, "groovy" dance music, all dressed in party clothes - me tossing these conversation hearts down the front of their dresses ;)

  12. Sorrentolens: That's hysterical. I thought you were going to say "tossing those down the hatch" but nonetheless it was much more appropriately adolescent. Thanks for sharing.

  13. Phew! I feel so better to have found similar company! Like DAM and swirvin, I was unable to find the Brach's so I settled for the NECCO. They were horrible and my bag quickly went into the trash. The flavors were off, way off, and just tasted gross. I thought maybe I had a bad batch - only to find out via this post that the flavors have changed. Green Apple and Blue Raspberry? That's not classic goodness I remember!

Tear. Conversation hearts were my favorite v-day candy. What's next, no more Reese's peanut butter eggs for Easter?????
