The Mississippi Delta is known for turning out more writers than any where else in the country - from Walker Percy to Hodding Carter to Julia Reed - and now Ward Williams of A Frightened Writer.
I'm not sure how I came across Ward's blog, but this Mississippian by Manhattan captured my attention with his quick wit, dry humor, and honest to goodness southern-style story telling that makes each post seem like a short story. Here are my favorite posts thus far on his burgeoning blog:
Ward's style has been compared to a cross between David Sedaris and Augustin Burroughs and from what I've read could be along the same path to success. So to say 'you knew him when' head over to AFW and join his mother (who he says is his only loyal fan), read a post or two, and leave him a comment.

Dickie, I heart you. I am excited for all the spring/summer posts to come.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Boozie
It's still cool and dreary and not exactly spring in the City but I will leave my apartment with my collar popped high (beneath a cable knit, naturally) in salute of you, Mr. Muller. I might even toss on my bean mocs even though it's not raining.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words.
Boozie: I can't wait for spring celebrations either. Mudbugs on the Mall (Check), Gold Cup (Check, Check), General Debauchery, (Check, Check, Check).
ReplyDeleteWard: Spot on. Spring sweater weather is just as amazing as fall. Bean mocs and all...
Well thank goodness I am currently unemployed and have plenty of time to enjoy the thoughtful and thorough musings of Mr. Williams. Thanks for the intro DAM; great find!
ReplyDeleteDAM....you've gotta read "The Help"
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog via Ward's and I've enjoyed reading. I'll be back!
