Fit To Be Tied

While Foxfield is tomorrow in Charlottesville and Hunt Cup on Sunday in Middleburg, it's probably too late to order your new digs; but Virginia Gold Cup and the Derby (and all the parties) are still a week off, so y'all have ample time to decide which one you deem fit to be tied...

Charles & Patrick of Georgetown are the official purveyors of the Kentucky Derby Tie. With silk printed in Italy and made in the United States with the Derby's signature rose logo, this one could put you ahead of the pack. You can purchase HERE.

Or maybe you are a bit more modern and want to check out Lumina Clothing Company's collection of bow and straight ties. Available in both 2" (think skinny tie) and 2.5" there gear is the perfect blend of modern materials in tradition design for the 21st Century southerner.

Maybe you'll stick with your favorite Belles of the Business and head over to Southern Proper and check out their Horse and Hound Collection. My personal favorite is Bourbon & Cigar - get it in either red or yellow and it will look just as appropriate with tweeds and Barbours at fall steeplechases.

And because they look mighty sharp and the colors vibrant and rich, these four from Paul Stuart are likely to become favorites in the collection. The 4 panel on the top left isn't on PS anymore, but I'd kill for it.

I'm having a hard time deciding, personally and with the clock ticking it's time to make a decision before we are off the races (apologies, I couldn't help the pun).

  1. I love the official tie. Wow! But I have to say, I'm a sucker for a bow tie. My top two picks are the PS paisley and the PS patchwork. Tough choices!

  2. I've been on the hunt for a good bow tie recently. I'm wearing my seersucker suit to several weddings this summer, and I want to change up the type of tie from one wedding to the next.

  5. You know I've been really pleased with R Hanauer (bowties.com) Based out of Fort Mill, SC. They make most, if not all, the bows seen at Paul Stuart. Call them up and see if they still have enough fabric to make that 4 panel. You get to choose what size bow too. The quality is superb.

  6. Love the bourbon and cigar tie from SoPro. Hubby and I didn't score tickets this year, so we're having a Derby bash at our house.
