While I'm down here in New Orleans for a bit of debauchery in honor of MDG's upcoming nuptials, HBO is bringing New Orleans to you with their new drama 'Treme.'

From David Simon and the folks from 'The Wire' - the acclaimed Baltimore set drama - comes 'Treme' (pronounced treh-may) set in the three months after Hurricane Katrina. The series will follow the impact of the storm on New Orleanians with a focus on the struggling musicians of this Mid-City neighborhood.
While previous New Orleans set shows haven't been wildly or at all, popular (remember 'K-Ville' and 'The Big Easy' - yeah most people don't either), from the looks of the trailer, 'Treme' starring Steve Zahn with John Goodman is likely to be as well received as 'The Wire.'
The 10-episode first season starts with an 80 minute pilot on Sunday, April 11 at 9:00/10:00 CST/EST.

K'Ville was an underrated show. Too bad it didn't last. Maureen and I enjoyed it...
ReplyDeleteHAVE FUN IN NOLA!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so psyched for Treme...and I liked K'Ville too and was sad it didn't stick around longer.
I totally watched K-Ville! It was acceptably cheesy with great car chases, how could anyone not like it?! It would have been golden if it came out in the 80s or early 90s, which obviously defeats the show's post-Katrina premise, but I'm just sayin...
ReplyDeleteHBO is paying the big bucks for a good cast so I'm expecting Treme will be added to the DVR list.

I'm looking forward to this one. NPR did a story about it this morning and it really piqued my interest. Knowing how well done The Wire was done, I would expect no less from Treme. Enjoy NOLA!!
ReplyDeleteSounds very interesting, can't wait for the premiere.
ReplyDelete"The Wire" is pretty amazing. It would be great if this show could live up to it.
ReplyDeleteJust read a review on it from EW and to call it a glowing review would be an understatement. The guy reviewing it absolutely loved the pilot. I don't have HBO, but am very much considering getting it just to be able to watch Treme. The Wire is my favorite show ever and I watched the whole series in a matter of three weeks. I can't imagine a David Simon project being anything other than great.
ReplyDeleteOn a semi-related note, I'll be taking a weekend trip soon to New Orleans with a few buddies. Any suggestions of must-do/eat things/places?
Babe luuuved The Wire so I will have to set the DVR for this one. Btw, just sent a male GW student your way...XXOO

ReplyDeleteWatched Treme last night....I have to say I loved it! Will watch again this week to take in all that I missed in the excitement last night. Glad to see some of the wires cast back and working. They have been missed!
Y'all - the show was incredible. I usually watched NOLA based tv/movies and cringe when they try and throw in so many words/phrases etc from the New Orleans lexicon, but this was so well done and felt authentic.
ReplyDeleteIf you have HBO, check out the "featurettes" including the 'making of'
