On the Bean Wagon

The first time I came across Bean's Lounger Boot, I was reading an magazine article around favorite things a few years ago. They quickly went on my 'mental procurement' list, but since I already owned Bean Mocs and 8" boots, passed on picking these up.

I really hadn't given them much thought until our boy JRS of Red Clay Soul started Operation Lounger Boot. These are great alternative for rainy days when you don't want to get soaked, lazy days when you just want to pull on your bean boots, and for those who don't know how to tie their shoes.

So jump on the Bean Wagon with me and leave a comment or two, forward the SG email blast, and/or, re-tweet this post so our friends above the line in Maine will hear the request.

From Town to the Country

When I met Lacelliese at the Farewell to Summer Party in late-August, she asked that I contribute a post toward men’s fall style on her blog Vogue on the Range. I have to admit, that it’s hard to think about wool and boots and jackets when it’s still 75 degrees, but with the weather's recent turn it finally feels like autumn where we can dress both for the weather and the season.

Here’s the kit I’m wearing right now whether in the District or headed outside the Beltway:
  • RayBan Caravans: When the classic aviator just doesn’t look right, try these on for size.
  • Lands’ End Paint Brush Shirt: The fit, finish and colors of the Tailored Fit shirt have become my go to alongside Polo’s custom fit oxford.
  • J.Press Shaggy Dog: The persimmon color hints at blaze orange and fall foliage without looking like you just came from a hunt.
  • Justin Ropers: A Southern Classic – these have been on my list for a while and with a collection of Bean Boots and Clarks behind me, hope to wrangle these in this autumn.
  • Levi's 514 Slim Straight: Don’t let the name fool you, these aren’t skinny jeans. Where the rise on 501’s is too high and the leg’s on 505’s too wide, 514’s are a straight leg with a rise that flatters just about every gent’s body style – the B.M.O.C. to the G.O.B.
  • Sid Mashburn Oyster Shell Buckle: I’ve been collecting brass buckles for several years now and was thrilled to receive a similar one for my birthday to add to the collection.
  • Belts.com Leather Strap: What www.TheTieBar.com is for neckwear, this online purveyor is for belts and straps. Bookmark this link for future and regular use.
  • Barbour Quilted Waistcoat: Versatile piece for your Barbour Beaufort. Worn when in the colder months as a zip in liner, it’s also especially smart looking in the early season when you need that additional layer.
